
The plan this year is to create an area of native wild flowers next to the camping pitches.
To prepare the ground ready to sow the seeds, the old grass thatch was first raked up and removed at the end of last year. The seeds were sown by sprinkling them onto the exposed patches of bare ground. When the ground warms up this spring, the seeds should germinate and produce flowers from May through until September.
The native seeds were chosen to match the ground conditions, and include Knapweed, Scabious and Agrimony. Examples of the flowers we’re hoping to see are shown below:
